Microcosm In Space
By Alex Rankin
The world of astronomy was thrilled this week after receiving confirmation of the existence of a microcosm in space.
Following the launch of the Space Ranger V probe in August, scientists at the Centre for Space and Lies in Geneva received photographic images of the microcosm in orbit around Saturn.
The microcosm, known as Terry, measures no more than a square mile wide and astronomers claim it contains a pizza restaurant, a small residential area and a launderette. Images also show evidence of a small human population living within the microcosm. People can be seen undertaking a number of ‘normal’ activities such as, walking along the streets and mowing their lawns.
Professor Kojak Parfetta from the Centre for Astrology in Russia first discovered the microcosm last July, while studying a nearby cluster of stars known as Johnson’s Platoon.
“I was looking at the Platoon to see if there was any change in gas density, when a highly concentrated spectrum of light caught my eye”.
At first, scientists thought he was talking rubbish, but experts at the Geneva centre now believe the light may have been caused by a rave. Professor Bangrha D at the centre in Geneva said, “Although images are limited, we have documented several occupants congregating under what appears to be a strobe light in a patch of woodland at the edge of the microcosm.”
A number of other activities have also been noted, such as jogging in the evening, and one inhabitant has been seen to deliver pizzas from the local restaurant. This type of behaviour has led scientists to believe that life in Terry may have originated from Earth, but they are unsure as to how it got there or how the microcosm was created.
Human rights group, Free Your Mind, say that Terry is the result of controversial psycho-space experiments conducted by NASA in the 1980’s. According to founding member Pete, they monitored the brainwaves of 10 people who were described as ‘living in their own worlds’ and attempted to recreate their head space in the hope of building a new world in case Earth was destroyed.
Several of the individuals involved in the experiments later disappeared and NASA announced the project dead. Free Your Mind has campaigned ever since to get the US government to admit to the experiments. “Finally, the world has woken up to this terrible exploitation of human thought”, says Pete.
One of the inhabitants of Terry is believed to be Gary Lawrence, an engineering graduate from Suffolk. His ex-girlfriend, Patricia Barfs, said he was approached by an organisation that was looking for volunteers to take part in a psychological experiment.
“He was always a bit spacey”, said Patricia. “He told me he had been offered a large amount of money by an organisation to take part in some experiments and would be leaving for America the next day. He wouldn’t tell me where though. I haven’t heard from him since.”
Microcosms are heard of as far back as the 1800’s, when Native American men would use them for spiritual experiences. Frat Johnson from the Museum of Unnatural History in Bath said, “Young Native Americans would head out into the desert in search of a spiritual encounter. Unknown to them, they would wander into a naturally occurring microcosm and believe that they were looking down on the Earth through the eyes of the gods. In fact it was just joke played on them by the elders. When they learned the truth they were quick to play the trick on their younger siblings.”
Free Your Mind says that they will continue their campaign for truth, whilst NASA state that they will be roundly ignored.
