The Loo You'd Never Leave
By Steve Robinson
The toilet has been slow to evolve since the beginning of human civilization. It started as a lowly pit-in-the-ground, rising to become a sophisticated, plumbed device under the Romans.
Though it had a relapse in the Dark Ages, the humble flusher arrived in the mid-nineteenth century and we've never wanted for more.
Until now, that is.
A plumbing company in the US of A has designed and built a luxury toilet containing over $5000 worth of hi-tech equipment, and will give away said loo as part of a sweepstakes lottery draw on www.rotorooter.com.
With features including an iPod music player and speakers, a laptop computer, an Xbox video game console, a refrigerator filled with drinks and snacks,a cycling exercise machine and a flat-screen TV, the 'Pimped Out John' will 'fulfill all your wildest bathroom dreams'. Sounds good.
"The average person spends 11,862 hours in the bathroom, which equals one year, four months and five days in a lifetime..." said Steven Pollyea, Roto-Rooter vice-president of marketing. "A toilet should be the most wonderful location in your home."
Perhaps, but then surely you have the rest of the house to stock with widescreen TVs and refrigerators. The toilet will surely take up a sizeable part of your bathroom too?
Although this is primarily a promotional product, I could foresee others wanting this ‘Bad Boy’, complete with grass-covered lid, as their water closet of choice. At least, I know where I'm going if I win the lottery.
The competition is only open to US residents, but if you're lucky enough to inhabit the land of the free, then you can enter the competition. Otherwise why don't you just go and check out some of Steve's other articles - that way you can be sure of being a winner too.
