Andrew Impey has rounded up some of the finest gadgets that might be wheedling their way into your hearts and lives before the year's out. Then again... unless you're particularly fond of death coming in the form of Hello Kitty, maybe you'll be leaving them well alone.

Beer Belly: the perfect paunch

How many men do you know that have beer bellies? Quite a few I’m sure. In fact it’s so common these days to see a little middle aged spread that no-one bats an eyelid at someone packing a few extra pounds. Until now that is.

Some clever sod has seen a gap in the market for sneaking beer into the movies; a concert or even a footy match. The Beerbelly is essentially a detachable spare tyre that can be filled with beer. It’s comprised of a synthetic bladder that has straps and you wear it just like a rucksack – obviously the other way around though. The clue is in the word ‘belly’.

The belly holds up to 80oz of liquid which is equivalent to six cans of beer. At the prices that stadiums charge, you’ll be raking in the saving in no time. Needless to say the Winerack is a similar product for women; this system works on the premise of too bladders – I think you can work out the rest for yourself. (more info)
