TOP TEN GADGETS FOR 2008
Hoverit Lounger: Back to the Future II, in your lounge!
If you’re into your Greek mythology you’ll know all about Icarus and his valiant, yet futile, attempts to fly. Mankind is obsessed with defying the laws of gravity and floating in mid-air. You can’t tell me you didn’t watch Back to the Future II and dream of owning one of those hover boards – we all did.
If you didn’t manage to get your head around the physics of levitation enough to customise your skateboard into a free-floating pulling machine, don’t panic. A British company may have the answer to all your gravitation needs. Hoverit Ltd has unveiled their new, limited edition, gravity defying lounger.
Basically it’s a completely transparent, acrylic chair that levitates thanks to the use of magnets in the base of the chair. These repel a second set of magnets in a base unit. The manufacturers claim that not only do you look pretty damn cool on your floating lounger, the magnets can also aid muscular problems and head aches.
It may not look the most comfortable of rides, but your mates will be jealous as hell. Beam me up Scotty. (Hoverit website)
