TOP TEN GADGETS FOR 2008
Tank Chair: Off-road wheelchairing
If you’ve ever pushed someone in a wheel chair you will know just how tiring it can get. If you are unfortunate enough to be confined to a wheel chair you will be all too aware just how frustrating it is getting around a world designed principally for walking.
Things in modern cities have improved markedly over the years with ramps and lifts providing increased opportunities for access but once you get out into the countryside, off-roading is the last thing on your mind. But things could be about to take a muddy turn for the better. Imagine if you will, a business class airline seat attached to the caterpillar tracks of a small tank. Add a few robotic gizmos; find a spare $15,000 lying around and you have yourself a nice little off road wheelchair.
Admittedly it looks more like something that you would use of the surface of Mars, rather than the local village park but all of a sudden it’s access all areas. (TankChair.com)
