Beach-loving penguins head home
For those people who go down to Brazil's fine tropical beaches to lie in the hot sun, swim or play volleyball, the very last thing you expect to see is a bird that should be living in the icy waste-lands of the Antarctic.
And yet every winter, penguins appear on the beaches having been brought there on ice floes that have broken off after the seasonal melts. One minute they are resting in -20oC, the next, they are waddling amongst the bronzed beauties and the sweet-and-sour caipirinhas - what a culture shock!
Sadly, they sometimes end up in local zoos, but this year they are being flown back home courtesy of the Brazilian Air Force and Navy, who'll take more than 100 back to their Antarctic habitat.
Sometimes it's not always good to go with the floe.
