Peculiar Periodicals
It turns out there are even more unlikely publications than The Journal of Unlikely Science. Every Thursday, our very own Dr Steer turns his attention to another weird science journal.
This week: THUNDERBIRD INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS REVIEW
| Name – You're going to think I've made this up, but I haven't. This journal really is the Thunderbird Review, you can check it if you like. It's so good I don't have to explain. | ![]() |
Front cover – Smart, tidy and straight down to business, just as you'd expect. There's even flags on the front so if you get bored you can try naming them all. Boy, I am such a geek. |

| Off-the-wallness – "Bob, I need someone to keep track of international business. Who do you suggest?" "Well, there's Prof Lerner at Harvard or Prof Walsham at Cambridge - they're both very good." "Screw 'em, I want the Thunderbirds, Bob. Get their agent on the line." | ![]() |
| Usefulness – In the latest issue there's an article on how, once Fidel Castro pops his clogs we can all swarm into Cuba and set up a new capitalist nirvana, alongside two articles by the brilliantly named Mary B. Teagarden. But, I'm not gripped and Castro's going to live another 20 years. | ![]() |
| Impressiveness – How can you not be impressed by a journal run by a bunch of eagle-eyed, bouncy-limbed puppets? How, then, can you not be bitterly disappointed when you find out it's not those Thunderbirds, but the Thunderbird School of Global Management? I need a drink. | ![]() |

| Overall – Great name, but I reckon trading standards are going to have something to say to these guys. | ![]() |
