Peculiar Periodicals

It turns out there are even more unlikely publications than The Journal of Unlikely Science.
Every Thursday, our very own Dr Steer turns his attention to another weird science journal.

This week: JOURNAL OF CONTROLLED RELEASE

Name – You're not really giving me much here - the controlled release of what? Anger? Wolves? Urine? Come on fellas, this is supposed to be science, let's have a little accuracy shall we?
Click to enlarge Front cover – Can you see how the R is being released (one would assume in a controlled manner) from the C? Clever ain't it.
Off-the-wallness – Annoyingly there are no wolves involved - when we finally get down to it, this journal is all about the controlled release of drugs. And I'm not talking about monitoring the amounts of ganja being sold in playgrounds, but medical drugs. Bit of a disappointment really.
Usefulness – It's all about getting medications to be released at the right time in the right place. Very, very worthy. Bloody do-gooders.
Impressiveness – One of the recent articles is entitled: "Efficient targeting to alveolar macrophages by intratracheal administration of mannosylated liposomes". I have no idea what this means but, hell, does it sound good.
             -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overall - A bit confusing all round, but good nonetheless.

Impact factor: Take a breath, count down from 10, feel the release. There, is that better. No need for any impacts after all hey?"
