It turns out there are even more unlikely publications than The Journal of Unlikely Science.
Every Thursday, our very own Dr Steer turns his attention to another weird science journal.

This week: SCANDINAVIAN JOURNAL OF CARING SCIENCES

Name – Oh how sweet! A whole journal making sure that scandinavians can be as kind to each other as possible. Although, I suppose if your ancestral stock raped and pillaged most of Northern Europe you might have a few things to learn.
Click to enlarge Front cover – Yet another unimaginative, monochrome travesty - it's the kind of thing that gives us scientists a bad name. Come on Norway, come on Sweden, Denmark and Finland, you've got more pride than this. And Iceland - you should know better.
Off-the-wallness – Hmmm, on closer inspection it's not that crazy. Ideas for how to look after old people better and make sure people with embarrassing diseases go to the doctor. Being a caring journal they don't even mock the embarrassing diseases. Hmph.
Usefulness – If you're old, infirm, afflicted or insane then the Journal of Caring Sciences is there for you to lighten your load. But only if your in the 0.4% of the world's population who live in Scandinavia.
Impressiveness – Fluffy? Yes. Well-meaning? Absolutely. Generous, warm-hearted and altruistic? Without a doubt. Impressive? Not a chance.
             -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overall It sounds so good from the outside, so worthy and yet, when you really need it, would it be there for you? No, it'd be enjoying a sauna with some fat Finns.

Impact factor: Doesn't so much make an impact as drift in quietly into your conscience and smile tenderly yet with a look of infinite sadness in its eyes as it plumps your cushions.
