Killer carrots

Despite Clive Owen’s attempts to show that carrots are a deadly weapon in the recent (and thoroughly excellent) film Shoot Em Up and carrot juice seeming to have something to do with the demise of the sixth Doctor Who, I can find very few real life cases of carrot-induced death. One almost did for Leonardo DiCaprio in 2005 when he choked his pre-oscars meal, and a few Canadians were laid up with botulism having drunk some dodgy juice.

The only verified case of carrot death I can find that isn't just choking, was that of a German baby who was accidentally injected with pureed carrots whilst in hospital in 2004. That’s some mistake to make.
