The world's finest photographers have been snapping away all year at any bit of biodiversity brave enough to wander within range. And all for this - it's almost time for the results of the Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition to be revealed. You can take a quick peek at some of the entries here:

Results day, when the creme de la creme of animal artistry find out that they've been pipped to the top prize by some kid from Manchester who fell over on his camera whilst on holiday and accidentally took a photo of a cheetah humping a wallaby, is on 25th October.

The photos will be on exhibition at the Natural History Museum from then before they tour the country. See wildphotos.org.uk for more info.
