Spiders make you hard

Spiders make you hard

By Catherine Scullion

What's the link between deadly spiders and erectile function? At least six degrees of separation I hear you cry - nope - researchers in Israel are analysing a direct link between the incongruous pairing. A national newspaper is claiming first rights to this bizarre news story based on the observation that men bitten by spiders have 'suffered from prolonged erections.'

Perhaps unsurprisingly this is the first research to study spider venom as a possible cure for impotency but the researchers are hopeful that it will help a great number of men. As far as this writer is aware a bizarre, and frankly disturbing, psychological link is not being considered. The black widow is one of the arachnids under investigation; famous for the consumption of her mate after copulation, it appears this creature is kinder to human males.

The work is being undertaken at the Rambam Hospital in Haifa. Spiders will prove a difficult connection to shake off; any progress will face a commercial uphill battle and a veritable marketing nightmare. All suggestions for brands and slogans are welcome.
