It turns out there are even more unlikely publications than The Journal of Unlikely Science.
Every Thursday, our very own Dr Steer turns his attention to another weird science journal.

This week: AQUATIC LIVING RESOURCES

Name – I've been left in doubt - is this journal about finding resources for aquatic living (snorkels, submarines, underwater hairdriers, etc) or a journal about resources for living that come from the water (fish, pearls and, ummm... water)? I need clarity damn you.
Click to enlarge Front cover – Well it's ok. But far from inspiring. This cover's hardly going to leap off the shelf at you and want to start reading about squid is it.
Off-the-wallness – Evidently the journal is about resources we get from watery environments. Resources for living underwater would have been much more exciting.
Usefulness – Well fish stocks are still merrily heading for extinction, so it can't be being too effective..
Impressiveness – Some researchers have worked out how to tell the difference, using sound alone, between salmon which are going someplace and those that are just hanging around. Well ok, thats pretty good I suppose.

Overall Were doomed from the moment I realised there were no submarines involved. Poor show.

Impact factor: It's got a handshake like a dead herring.
