Tom has just graduated from university with a Politics degree. As he is not a science 'acamemic' like the rest of those losers he has to stay ahead of the game by researching as much as he can. Therefore his basic scientific knowledge stems from Scientology, Harry Potter, the film 'Primer' and Wikipedia.

His greatest achievement is reading over 38 pages of Stephen Hawkings 'A Brief History of Time'.
