Psychosis Sufferers Prefer Bush
By Hayley Birch
You may - depending on your political stance - be unsurprised to learn that psychotics show a predilection for George Dubya. According to new research, the severity of a psychiatric patient’s condition predicts their political persuasion with some degree of certainty, psychotics being the most likely to back the controversial president.
The revelation comes after a masters student at Southern Connecticut State University carried out a survey of 69 psychiatric patients for his thesis. At the time of the research, which was undertaken during the 2004 US elections, Christopher Lohse’s primary interest was in encouraging mentally ill patients to exercise their voting rights. Only later did some wise-guy point out the trend.

Psychosis is a temporary mental state often associated with a lack of understanding about what’s going on in the real world coupled with inner turmoil. Some might say it’s little wonder then that sufferers relate to the Bush administration.
