Men Say Chick Flicks Are Hits Men Say Chick Flicks Are Hits

By Catherine Scullion

Stereotypes have been overturned as a psychology study has shown that men are a willing audience for rom-coms.

The author, Professor Richard Harris of Kansas State University, affirms; "Everyone thinks women like romantic movies and they drag guys along to them. What was significant was that the guys also liked the movies, and that the choice to view a romantic movie was usually made together as a couple, not just by the girl."

The study showed a good correlation between how men rated romantic films and how much their dates thought they’d enjoyed it; an unrelated but tacit proof of the perceptive powers of the fairer sex.

While attitudes remain that a group of men are unlikely to make a mass trip to Reese Witherspoon’s next big screen appearance the results provide some food for thought for moviemakers.

A new market seems to have opened: don’t be surprised to see Vin Diesel loved-up at a cinema near you! Cue the terrible XXX puns.
