Peculiar Periodicals

It turns out there are even more unlikely publications than The Journal of Unlikely Science.
Every Thursday, our very own Dr Steer turns his attention to another weird science journal.

This week: FRAGBLAST

Name – It's amazing, how can a meaningless word contain so much meaning? It speaks of spilled guts and gore, guns and explosions, soldier fighting soldier. And all the while there's a quiet undertone of cruelty to frogs.
Click to enlarge Front cover – There's deep thought here - the boldness of the image and the dissonance of the horribly clashing colours. It's all boom, whoosh, smash and clash - you're in for a tough ride.
Off-the-wallness – This is the International Journal for Blasting and Fragmentation - how best to blow up rocks and stuff. You've got to admit it, that's good.
Usefulness – Unless you happen to be the proud owner of half a tonne of Semtex and the urge to destroy a mountain then this might not be the journal for you.
Impressiveness – Publishing a paper in Fragblast means you blow stuff up for a living. Cooool.

Overall Get out of its way, fool. Fragblast is coming through.

Impact factor: Remember the bit in the film The Day After Tomorrow when that bloke standing out in the raging wind gets hit by the huge piece of metal? It's like that.
